TACFIS GmbH was founded in 2001 as AASW GmbH, an academy for security training. Back then the partners developed chassis for armoured vehicles and began offering driver training on these exceptional, heavy cars. Shortly afterwards the training portfolio was expanded: together with the IHK Regensburg, the course “Security specialist for personal and works protection (IHK)” was created.
In 2006 TACFIS GmbH was certified to ISO and as an AZAV provider. Since then several hundred participants have successfully completed this training. Since May 2008 TACFIS has been preparing staff of NGOs, aid organisations and journalist associations for international assignments in crisis and conflict regions.
Since 2009 the German Federal Foreign Office in Berlin has been among TACFIS’ clients. In a course tailored precisely to ever-changing threats, TACFIS trains German diplomats and local staff of the German embassies for postings in high-risk locations. Participants travel to Waldmünchen from all over the world to train driving armoured vehicles, detecting explosive traps, radio communication, behaviour under attack and much more.
In December 2011 Keywan Christian Kretschmer became partner and managing director. In 2012 TACFIS acquired a large training ground – the former range facility in Cham – and has since offered security services in addition to training, armed where necessary. The permits under § 34a GewO and the German Weapons Act were granted by the district authority of Cham.
In 2015 TACFIS trained OSCE staff deployed as peace monitors on the Ukrainian-Russian border. In 2019 TACFIS provided a Mobile Training Team (MTT) that held several Hostile Environment Awareness Trainings (HEAT) at German embassies in Iraq, Niger, Mali, Mauritania and Burkina Faso. In autumn 2019 the company was renamed TACFIS GmbH, Trainings Academy for International Security.
For more than 20 years TACFIS has been successfully training security personnel and prepares staff of federal ministries, companies, associations, NGOs and authorities as well as diplomats for assignments in particularly hazardous locations. The company places the greatest value on balanced, hands-on training – supported by its own training ground of around 58,000 sqm where almost every practical scenario can be rehearsed.
